Spectra Energy Partners, LP, in response to strong market interest for additional market outlets and increased access to Appalachian natural gas supplies, is planning a further expansion of its East Tennessee Natural Gas (ETNG) system. After evaluating the requests received from the Greenway Project open season held in February, 2008, ETNG has determined the facilities required for the Greenway-Blue Ridge expansion of the ETNG system. The expansion project will move substantial volumes of natural gas from the Appalachian supply basin to Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic U.S. markets.

The Greenway-Blue Ridge expansion is anticipated to provide up to 275,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of firm capacity with a transportation path from the Appalachian producing region in Southwest Virginia to East Tennessee’s Cascade Creek interconnect with Transcontinental Pipeline in North Carolina.

Three segments of capacity are available:

  • Blue Ridge – A new lateral with a capacity between 150,000 and 275,000 Dth/d that will extend from Southwest Buchanan County, Va. to East Tennessee’s Jewell Ridge Lateral.
  • Jewell Ridge – Capacity from existing and proposed interconnects on the Jewell Ridge Lateral to East Tennessee’s Mainline.
  • East Tennessee Mainline – Capacity from East Tennessee’s interconnect with the Jewell Ridge Lateral to the Cascade Creek interconnect with Transcontinental Pipeline.

Each segment will carry a separate transportation rate. Shippers may elect to place a nomination for one segment or for each of the segments depending on the extent of the transportation path that they desire. The target in-service date is November 1, 2010.

Nominations will be accepted from Monday, October 20 at 9:00 ET, through October 31, 2008, at 5 p.m. ET. For nomination forms and additional information, contact William Wickman by telephone at (865) 692-2110 or by email at wewickman@spectraenergy.com, or follow links included on this web page.
