The Loudon Expansion Project is an expansion on the East Tennessee Natural Gas Pipeline to serve a power plant conversion from coal to natural gas.

The Loudon Expansion Project submitted a formal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on February 20,2015, and was assigned docket number CP15-91-000. The FERC exclusively authorizes the construction of new interstate natural gas facilities. The FERC is also the lead federal agency responsible for conducting environmental reviews of interstate natural gas projects in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

In March of 2016, FERC issued its Certificate Order for the Loudon Expansion Project under docket number CP15-91-000 after a comprehensive review. Construction of the Loudon Expansion Project began in March of 2016 and the Project was placed into service on September 13, 2016.
