Spectra Energy Corp:
One of North America’s Leading Natural Gas Infrastructure Companies
One of the principal attributes of Spectra Energy Partners, LP, is the relationship with Spectra Energy Corp, the owner of our general partner, Spectra Energy Partners GP, LLC. Owning a significant interest in Spectra Energy Partners, LP, Spectra Energy Corp is comprised of the former natural gas businesses of Duke Energy Corporation. It became a stand-alone, publicly traded company in January 2007.
Spectra Energy Corp owns and operates a large and diversified portfolio of complementary natural gas assets and is one of North America’s leading midstream natural gas companies.
The company, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “SE,” serves three key links in the natural gas value chain:
- Gathering and processing,
- Transportation and storage, and
- Distribution
Through its interests in six U.S. pipeline systems, including Southeast Supply Header (SESH), East Tennessee and Gulfstream, and three western Canadian pipeline systems, Spectra Energy owns and operates one of the largest long-haul natural gas pipeline networks in North America, consisting of more than 18,900 miles of transportation pipelines.
In addition, Spectra Energy is one of the largest operators of natural gas storage in North America with total working gas capacity of over 275 billion cubic feet (Bcf), including East Tennessee’s LNG facility and Market Hub Partners.
Spectra Energy owns a 50 percent interest in DCP Midstream, LLC, which is the largest natural gas liquids producer in North America. DCP Midstream owns the general partner interest and a significant limited partner interest in DCP Midstream Partners, LP, a midstream master limited partnership.
